Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Icing and sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well mixed.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Chill the Dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
- Roll and Cut: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). On a floured surface, roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness. Use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to shape the cookies. Place the cut-out cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are just starting to turn golden. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate: Once the cookies are completely cool, decorate with icing and Halloween-themed sprinkles as desired.
